david probably sees hu in him a lot. david thinks hu is easily manipulated because of her kindness, i think he’s projecting. as in he used to also genuinely love helping others and sticking out for people. that is, until he realised that his kindness doesnt pay and that people only take advantage of hin for it.

on that note, i think the same thing can apply to him and arei. arei is very cynical, she believes that if people dont take advantage of others, they will get taken advantage of in the end. during david’s mini break down in ep 10 (i think), he clearly pities arei for trying to befriend someone even though she’s someone with no experience with friendships at all. and he pities her for wanting to change. he definitely sees her in himself a lot. deep inside, he wishes he could change, but he stopped believing in himself a long tome ago

imo his ‘facade’ isnt 100% fake, there definitely some parts of him we see that show who he really is inside.

GODDDD you are so smart anon David is constantly projecting himself onto the people he grows close to, and I think in his four most major relationships so far (Xander, Teruko, Hu, and Arei) you can see a part of himself and what his true desires and feelings about himself are through how he interacts with them. As I explain more in-depth in this post, Xander is very much the kind of person David wants to become. someone who's compassionate and helps others and has hope and not only has faith in a better future, but actively seeks to bring it closer. Xander is David's idea of a good person, an idea that gets shattered after realizing that Xander too is not immune to being deceitful and cruel Teruko and Arei are both people that remind David of himself, specifically the cynical black-and-white way he thinks about the world. But the way he treats both of them is vastly different. The glimmer of light that shined then broke with Xander is re-lit with Arei, because Arei not just shows David a reflection of his own mindset, but a person who wants to change from that mindset. Like you said, David unquestionably saw himself in Arei, specifically his desire to change. Meanwhile in his eyes, Teruko shows no such desire and is forever dead-set on her path

David: Gosh. Teruko Tawaki. David: I know you hate anyone who isn't you, but dragging everyone down with you by getting us all executed is a low blow, even by your standards. David: You're searching for reasons to distrust others, like you always do.

Now we the audience obviously know that Teruko is putting up a front, and if my predictions on how the story will go are correct, I definitely think Teruko will eventually come around meanwhile David will continue on his downward spiral. But that's getting more into theory talk. And as for Hu, David definitely sees his more positive traits within her, specifically the fact that David genuinely wants to help others. That's also something he looked up to in Xander as well, and remember, Xander is David's idea of a picture-perfect good person, the person he wants to be, but thinks he can't be. On the topic of Hu (and this is technically getting into speculation but I think there's enough evidence to support it), I 100% think that she ended up opening up to David about her secret, which is most likely the Hopeless Child one.

Hu: I have to be the one to give everyone guidance. That's the only thing I can do. If no one relies on me, then I won't be useful anymore. Hu: You knew how I felt, and yet you... You... Hu: You toyed with my heart!

And if that is true, that also definitely resonated in David as well considering his own feelings of hopelessness, as well as his suicidal tendencies shown in how he is trying to get himself and everyone else killed in the trial, and also how his hidden quote is most likely referring to himself.

David: I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. I wish you could just die.

And to cap it all off, I too also think that David's 'facade' was not entirely fake. In a lot of David analyses I see, especially right after the release of CH2-11, there's often a lot of focus on if him pre-CH2-11 was fake or not, and if his current behavior is just another fake persona, or if the small hints of tiredness and grumpiness we see from him like in the prologue is the "real David". But in my personal opinion, I think it's a lot simpler than that I think we're always seeing the real David, we're just seeing him through different perspectives.

"Where's puffball?" Jungkook asks, carefully walking into your apartment, visibly tense as he follows you slowly, rather taking a look around.

"Where he always sleeps." You simply say, and Jungkook needs to think for a second, before his face turns towards the corner near your entrance door, where a small coffee table stands instead of the tiny red dog bed he was expecting-

"Oh.." jungkook can't find the words, his throat suddenly clogging up. Everyone always said how ugly that dog was, and yeah, objectively he was- with the overbite and tongue hanging out, he truly wouldn't have ever won a beauty contest. But you loved the little guy- and Jungkook loved him too, despite his constant yapping.

"Died of kidney failure last year December." You shrug as you search through a bookshelf, opening a folder with documents. "Wasn't surprising."

"I'm.." he starts, before he bites his lip, scratches the back of his neck. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" You chuckle, trying to just brush it off. Truth be told it still hurts to talk about it- but you don't want him to know that. "You didn't kill the guy." You joke, taking out some paperwork as you sit down on the couch.

"No, It's not that-" he says, eyes focused on the grey-ish pull out couch in front of him.

The same you both made love on, years ago, the same he held you on through the entire night before you went for a round two in the morning, the same he decided that he needs change on.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there. To.. comfort you." He offers.

Again, only a shrug of your shoulders. You don't acknowledge him at all, it feels like.

And he can't even blame you.

"Here- that should be all the papers for the car." You instead change the topic, holding out the documents- which he takes, though he sits down next to you as well, with a respectful distance. It feels off, awkward, like punishment for his cowardly behavior years prior.

It's like you switched sides- your tattoos covered up by simple black leggings, blank white top covering your upper half. The only hint of color is in the split ends of your hair- though even that's faded to the point of almost being unrecognizable.

And now he's the rebel of the two of you, going against the norms with his tattoos and piercings and hair and everything- something he'd always admired you for, back then.

But the world had finally broken you down it looks like- society having forced you into submission after all, despite your back then huge ambitions.

"Are you sure I can just.. have it?" He asks again, just to make sure you really don't want the car any longer- and you nod.

"I had a seizure three months back, so I'm not allowed to drive anyway." You say nonchalantly, leaning back against the couch, arms and legs crossed to almost fend him off it seems like. "Not that I'd want to ever again." You confess.

"..down the old EDM club." He suddenly says, looking at you. "Near the main road. That was you?" He asks, and you nod, though your furrowed brows and challenging eyes show clearly that you're asking for why he knows about it. "I.. kept up with the news and.." he sighs, running his fingers through his hair, the other hand careful not to clutch the papers too hard. "I wanted to know you're alright."

"Cool." You simply say, nothing else.

He looks at you, waiting for something more you might day- but you don't. You just look at him with a strange mixture of emotions he can't really distinguish. It's all washed together into one muddy mess- and he knows it's his fault that you're so on guard.

He's a stranger to you now, after all.

"Car was never fixed up, by the way." You say, moving to get up. "So you've got some work to do or money to spend." You say, and Jungkook gets up as well, walking after you towards the door that you open for him.

He slips back into his Chelsea boots, before he looks back at you, mouth opening before you can even deny him. "I know you're pissed at me." He says. "And you got every right to."

"Great we talked about that- now leave." You say, pointing out the door.

"I'm not gonna say this to get my dick wet." He tells you with a serious face, as you stare him down, daring him foe his next words. "But I need you to know that you.. what happened between us, that was fucking special." He says. "So much so that I knew I had to change in order to.. become someone." He says.

"Someone what?" You ask, crossing your arms defensively- because his words are getting to you.

"Just someone." He explains. "I wasn't anyone at all back then. Just.. a puppet who did what I for told. I had no personality. No ambitions, nothing- I only had you." He words out, and your gaze softens. "And I couldn't stay with you because.. I would've probably hurt you at some point."

"You still did." You say, and he nods, tongue playing with his piercing.

"I did." He agrees. "But not as bad as I would've if I'd stayed." He tries to justify. "I- listen, can't we.. start over?" He wonders, looking at you with hopeful eyes. "We're basically strangers by now anyway, aren't we?"

You are.

The jungkook in front of you is nothing like the blank canvas he used to be. He's vibrant despite the lack of color he's actually wearing, full of emotions, opinions and views. This jungkook is filled to the brim with things-

Rambles about the design under the cut!

Sooo the previous designs *sigh*. I’ve never posted them, but here they are now!

The one on the left is the first one I did and tbh, It wasn’t that bad it just wasn’t where I wanted it to be (I REALLLY hated it at the time) I also don’t think I did a good job with the color palette, it the green and purple just clash so bad with everything else it’s just AAAAHHHH! I made it around the time the trolls hyperfixation, so it’s also kinda old now, ngl.

The second one, I hate. Hate may be a strong word but that’s how I feel. While I still took a lot of the elements from that design into the current one, I still think that it’s pretty bad (especially the hair). At least the colors are good! It just felt too much like someone cosplaying him rather than him, ya know?

And an issue with both of them I have is neither of them really had his body type, correct. I was still learning how to draw body types more similar to his and I was just kind of struggling.

Outfit Stuff

In the current design, I tried to lean into a sort of swimwear look without actually giving him a swimwear. So for his crop top I took inspiration from those full-body suits that a lot of surfers wear (photo above, for reference) and made the neck part (idk what it’s called) very fitted.

I also gave him sandals to fit the swimwear theme.

I also gave him those scene arm things (idk what those are called either) because rave clothes seem to have quite a bit of overlap with the scene aesthetic. I also made his pants low-rise and gave him a crop top for this reason. It also gives the separation between his top and pants a bikini-esqe look, feeding into the swimwear theme.

Gave him some chains for his pants since that is in line with the aesthetic as well.

Hair + Other Physical Features

Designing his hair was pretty simple, I gave him dreads and tied them up in order to emulate his cannon hair.

I also gave him dermatosis papulosa nigra (NPD) in order to emulate his cannon pixelated freckles.

While I personally don't dislike or even full on hate the crush arc, my feelings on it are quite mixed and I totally get why some fans do dislike/hate it. I also have my own woy swap au and I got rid of the crush arc there too, due to my own feelings on it and how it just...wouldn't work with what I wanna do with my au and the kinda story I'm trying to tell.

While I do like Dominator (and she's a major character in my au), when it comes to how she's handled in the show proper, i think she could've used alittle more screen time and development. Like another episode focused on her or something. It's weird how "the night out" is the only episode with her as the effective protagonist, even though as you said, she's the main villain of s2.

youre so right, dominator deserved another episode with the focus on her. just one more would be a lot better than what we got.

and yeah, it's not that i outright haaaate the episodes about wooing dominator, or the concept of hater's big stupid crush on her, it's just such a massive portion of the dominator screentime we get that it annoys me. i think this is also a problem that couldve been avoided by simply having other major female characters around, because there are. two of them. two women with major recurring speaking roles, and one of them barely gets to be a person until the end, and that makes me sad as someone who's lived most of my life as a girl. there are so many male recurring side characters with their own thoughts, feelings, and clear cut personalities, while female characters other than sylvia are relegated to the roles of girlboss or Princess :( or, of course, GirlbossPrincess.

like overall does it impact my watching experience generally? no. but does it make me sad? yeah. and at the end of the day it's a disney show and this doesnt shock and baffle me

I feel like the Legend's would just stare at each other and decide they're not going to mention ANYTHING for their own sanities lmaooo. Does modern au Legend have a pink bunny stuffed animal he takes everywhere with him, perhaps...?👀

I'm curious how each of them will react to the other in terms of looks (clothing, tattoos) cause the LU Links dress kinda funkyTM compared to us in the modern world. Modern AU Legend has a lot of bunny themed things, and pink is his favorite color so I see no reason why he WOULDN’T have a pink bunny stuffed animal. I don’t think it’s anything that leaves his room, but yeah he would have one askjdhdjh

The Times would be perplexed by each other. They don’t speak much, they’re both pretty quiet, but they’d notice how differently they’re built despite being the same height and I think they’d both be like “huh….” (theyd be VERY curious about the whole missing eye thing, especially modern au Time because wtf dyou mean “oh yeah, basically possession but willingly”???? and LU Time would just shrug to that). Modern AU Time also doesn’t have any facial tattoos, and I think he’d find the armor to be “a bit much” (he knows it’d be hell on his body to carry around something so heavy)

The Twilights would become besties and LOVE each other’s vibe, the Wars would probably hate each other or become inseparable in seconds (I think Modern AU War would be jealous of the sheer size of LU Wars’s scarf), the Skys would LOVE each other’s outfits

Hyrule somehow doesn’t dress that much differently. Like he wears green tshirts and not tunics but the belts and trinket pouches are still there, he hasn’t changed much

Modern AU Legend introducing LU legend to modern day fashion would be a nightmare in the sense that LU Legend would get SOOOOOOOOOOOO sad that Hot Topic doesn’t exist for him. LU Legend would probably be a little upset that his modern counterpart willingly dyes his hair pink

The Wilds would give each other tours of their closet/slate and would be too busy ranking each others outfits to do much else (they’re ignoring their physical differences so they don’t freak out)

I think Modern AU Four would genuinely love the multicolored tunic with the hood vibe that LU Four has going on (not to mention the SWORDS) and i can see him begging Wild to help him make one for himself

I think this is my last post of 2024 so I just want to yap a bit hehe ~

I'm taking justtttttttt a little break from making HL fanart for a few days....but I will be responsive though, maybe abit late than usual 🫠 I still have lots of ideas but I have so limited time to do everything I want especially new year is coming and my managers are trying to get everything done within this week 😫 So I think I need to be refreshed a little bit and first of all finish my next Dota Tarot card which I've been painting for almost a week and it's still not even half way done hahahaaaa...

Oh and I've just purchased a new White Nights watercolor set (yet again 😅). Now I have 4 watahcolor brands (Holbein, Van Gogh, Gansai Tambi, White Nights) and a Himi Gouache 24 set. I think Gansai amazed me the most in term of quality and it's also the most expensive (but that's the only set I didn't buy but a gift from friend). I think I've become abit addictive haha, I've been thinking about buying another 112 Himi box but there's no way I can use all that paint and my desk is out of space already 😅

Last Sunday I went to a cosplay convention dressing as Lanfan in Fullmetal Alchemist, this is my 5th and last cosplay pj of this year and I'm so happy with the result 🥰 I'll update this year cosplay journey this year on Tumblr (if anyone interested 😀!!)
